Are you intrigued by how to get a job at the United Nations, the State Department, or an international NGO? Are you a new job seeker or going through a career change? Are you looking to volunteer or for internship opportunities?

Our Career Events offer you an opportunity to meet and speak with international personnel who can provide valuable advice while sharing their experiences.

This evening's scope will provide a wide-ranging view of topics, including: the UN Secretariat, types of posts, employment routes, national competitive exams, language exams, recruitment for peacekeeping missions, the UN Volunteer program, Associate Expert Program and UN internships.

John Ericson will explain the myths and realities of getting a job at the UN and how the hiring process really works.

John Ericson is the Chief of the Outreach Unit in the Office of Human Resources Management of the United Nations Secretariat in New York. He was born in Sweden and joined the UN in Vienna in 1982. He later spent five years at the UN Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa. He served in peacekeeping operations in the former Yugoslavia and Cambodia and has also worked in Bangkok, Thailand and Kenya.
