CSW60: Women's Empowerment and its link to Sustainable Development

March 14-24, 2016
United Nations Headquarters
First Avenue at 47th Street, New York, NY 10017

All members of UNA-USA have a special opportunity — applying to become a UNA-USA Representative to the 60th Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations! CSW60: Women's Empowerment and its link to Sustainable Development, will take place March 14-24 at UN Headquarters in New York City. As a UNA-USA Representative, you will get exclusive access to CSW60 meetings and events, the opportunity to publish your work to the UNA-USA network, and the chance to meet fellow UNA-USA members, activists and leaders from around the world.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the UN's principal body dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. Every year CSW holds a two-week session where representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities gather at UN headquarters to discuss progress and gaps in promoting women's rights, review the status of women around the world, and shape global standards on gender equality. CSW60 will focus on the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls and what it means to the 2030 Development Agenda.

As a UNA-USA delegate to CSW60, you will not only represent our organization at CSW events but also report back to the greater UNA-USA network on your experience. A UNA-USA Representative will take part in the following:

• Access to public meetings of the Commission and side events organized by Permanent Missions and UN entities

• An opportunity to share your experience on the UNA-USA blog and social media channels

• Networking opportunities with fellow UNA-USA members, global leaders and activists

With the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals this past September, this is an especially historic year for the UN and its work on women's rights and issues. Apply today and take part in the conversation that will shape women's rights and issues in 2016 and beyond.

The deadline to apply is January 22, 2016.
