What New York City is Doing

  • Natural Areas Conservancy Collaboration

    Both the city and the Natural Areas Conservancy operate to conserve the city’s 10,000 acres of forests, meadows, and wetlands.

  • Stewardship Program

    Through this city program, participants assist the NYC Parks office in a variety of conservation tasks, including pruning street trees and monitoring local wildlife.

  • Greenbelt Native Plant Center (GNPC)

    Under the direction of the NYC Parks Department, GNPC protects the NYC’s most valuable natural areas by supplying native plants and seeds.

  • Wetlands Management Framework

    This framework provides a multi-decade roadmap for the protection of NYC’s wetlands and streams, including preservation and management.

  • Forest Learning Hub

    This resource hub informs the general public about forests located in the city.
