What New York City is Doing
Mayor’s Office of Strategic Partnerships
The Mayor’s Office for Strategic Partnerships (OST) was created in 2014 to foster strategic partnerships that can help the City tackle its single greatest issue: inequality. The OST today serves as a hub that coordinates public, non-profit, and private partners working together to support the City’s agencies.
Mayor’s Fund
Working in partnership with businesses, non-profits, and philanthropic organizations, the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City has since 1994 played a key role in supporting initiatives that improve the lives of New Yorkers. Among its recent crucial efforts, the Fund raised over $50 million for emergency COVID relief in 2020.
The New Yorkness of the UN
An initiative of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs, the New Yorkness of the UN strives to improve integration of the UN community in New York and to create opportunities for mutual learning. Among the achievements of the initiative is the 2016 UN Economic Impact report, which analyzes the positive economic impact the UN has in New York.
UN Women Partnership
In 2014, New York City signed a historic pact with UN Women. the first agreement of its type between the City and a UN entity. As part of the partnership, New York became the American city to join UN Women’s Safe Cities Global Initiative, committing to increase public safety for women and girls and sharing best practices with UN Women.
