Please join us at our Annual Meeting, where UNA-NYC will celebrate our collective accomplishments over the past year, and when we will warmly welcome our special guest speaker, Dr. Franz Baumann, who served as Assistant UN Secretary-General under Ban Ki-moon.
The theme of Dr. Baumann's keynote presentation at tonight's meeting will be Climate Change: the Central Challenge for Humanity.

DR. FRANZ BAUMANN
Franz Baumann spent most of his professional life as a United Nations official. In 2009, he was appointed Assistant Secretary-General. His last assignment was Special Adviser on Environment and Peace Operations. He left the United Nations at the end of 2015 and is now a Visiting Research Professor at New York University. He is both a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and a Senior Fellow.
Dr. Baumann started his career at the European Parliament in Luxembourg in 1976, before transferring to the European Commission in Brussels, and eventually joining Siemens in Munich. In 1980, he joined the United Nations and, during more than three decades, served in four cities on three continents in a variety of functions.
His doctorate in Political Science (African Studies) was obtained from Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada.
