Bridging the Gap Between CUNY and the United Nations
CUNY and the United Nations Association of New York (UNA-NYC), are pleased to announce their partnership to progress UN Sustainable Development Goal #4, Quality Education. Our first program together will be a Career Event on April 15, for which 450 students have already registered. Two highly qualified speakers, with years of experience working at the United Nations Human Resources Office and as an NGO representative to the United Nations, will provide CUNY students with exclusive information and insider tips about how to navigate the UN system and apply for UN jobs. They will also learn about NGO volunteer opportunities that help build the skills specifically needed to work at the United Nations.
The United Nations Association of New York (UNA-NYC) is a chapter of the United Nations Association of USA (UNA-USA) and aims to educate, inspire, and mobilize New York City residents to support the principles and vital work of the United Nations. UNA-NYC offers its members the opportunity to learn about the United Nations and connect with professionals, students, and entrepreneurs in New York. As the host chapter to the United Nations, UNA-NYC has the largest membership in the broader UNA-USA.
With this partnership, CUNY and UNA-NYC will expand educational opportunities to CUNY students by offering the students an introduction to the work of UNA-NYC through its many public programming, lectures, panel discussions, and film screenings. Through these programs the students will learn about the critical issues the United Nations works to solve. UNA-NYC is passionate about empowering young people interested in engaging professionally with the United Nations, including funding internships abroad through the Summer Scholars Fellowships, training young professionals through the Worldview Institute, and providing opportunities to learn and network with ambassadors, diplomats, UN officials, authors and academics.
