The Ambassador Series with Thomas R. Pickering
Our distinguished guest this spring in our ever-popular Ambassador Series was Thomas R. Pickering.
Ambassador Pickering's diplomatic career spans five decades, and he holds the rank of Career Ambassador, the highest in the U.S. Foreign Service. His extensive service as U.S. ambassador covers many territories, including the Russian Federation, India, Israel, El Salvador, Nigeria, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He has also served on assignments in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
After many years of non-contact, Iran and the United States are currently moving to resolve differences over Iran's nuclear program. In the evening's presentation the ambassador addressed both the obstacles and the possibilities of success in their efforts.
