MASOOD HAIDER
Masood Haider is the UN correspondent for The Daily Dawn, the largest circulation English daily newspaper in Pakistan. He is also a past president of the United Nations Correspondents Association. Since 1993, he has reported from New York and the United Nations for The Daily Dawn, which is published simultaneously in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. He is also a frequent contributor to MaximsNews, a news network for the UN and the international community.
Mr. Haider started his career in 1970 as a correspondent for the Eastern News Agency (ENA), the first East Pakistani news agency, which later became the first Bangladeshi news agency. He later joined The Morning News as a reporter until 1978, when he moved to the United States.
In 1984 Mr. Haider became chief editor of Eastern Times, a South Asian ethnic newspaper, then published in New York. From 1980 to 1989 he worked for The Muslim, Islamabad and the following year joined The Frontier Post before moving to Academic File, a London-based news agency. He joined The Daily Dawn in 1993.
Mr. Haider is currently in Pakistan assessing the situation and will return to New York to report at this presentation.
